Technology Mission

Nixon is committed to preparing all students for the world where technology is ever changing. We are facilitating life-long learning for all staff and students. All staff and students will have access to technology. Technology will be integrated throughout the curriculum. Effective and appropriate use of computer-related instructional technology will result in improvements in the quality of our educational system and the community. By using technology, students and staff become "knowledge architects" with the ability to access and manipulate information and creatively express their ideas to others. Technology can bring the world to the students addressing a variety of learning modalities and the diverse needs of the students we serve. The staff will use technology to gain knowledge of innovative lesson plans as well as use it as a tool for various learning styles.

Technology is integrated into all areas of our curriculum. Throughout our school, students use computers and other tools of technology for writing and publishing, research and skills development in all subjects. The school hosts a computer lab with 34 desktop computers and a mobile computer cart with 20 laptop computers for student use.

This is supported by additional computers in every classroom. Each classroom is equipped with an LCD projection system and internet access. Each teacher is assigned a personal laptop computer. The school technology committee meets monthly and provides staff development and training in the latest technologies.
