Reading Tips for Parents
- Read to your child everyday.
- Listen to your child read everyday.
- Get your child a library card and go to the library.
- Provide books on his/her reading level. (I can provide that information.)
- Get your child a subscription to a child's magazine; Nickelodeon, Mathmania, Zoobooks, National Geographic for Kids, Highlights, etc.
- Read signs, billboards, buildings, etc. Challenge your child to read them to you.
- Have your child read directions and recipes to you.
- Let your child see you reading.
- Encourage their reading - Praise, Praise, Praise!
- Remember you are your child's first and most important teacher. They model you whether you want them to or not.
